Great staff who can answer your questions about island and park service activities. You can also buy beach driving passes. They have a great shop with books, toys, and a wide variety of souvenirs.
A GREAT PLACE TO START YOUR 1ST VISIT TO OCRACOKE ISLAND! LOTS OF INFORMATION AND FACTS WHICH WILL MAKE YOUR VISIT THAT MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE!
Everyone here was so friendly. Not a lot to check out here. There is a really cool whale skull outside. Gift shop and information center inside. Definitely worth a quick stop by.
Very helpful staff. Sailed in and picked up a dock pass for a few days. The restrooms are minimal but clean and available 24 hours (no shower). Staff was not allowed to make recommendations for where to eat or have a beer but they did give some guidance on some must see spots in the area. Being on a boat, we walked quite a bit and wound up eating and drinking on the boat most of the time because prices were high for the quality and quantity of food the bars/restaurants serve here. I asked a ferry worker where to find a good meal for reasonable nearby...he replied "New Bern..."
What you see is what you get. It is neat that it is oldest, still working lighthouse in NC.
